Grand Entry - Drums "Drums and Bells for a Plentiful Harvest"Arrangement: Yiyun Li The tune is warm and joyous, exciting and expansive, expressing the joyful excitement of the harvest scene.Mr. Jian Ding's pairing of this music to the large-scale drum performance adds to the atmosphere of gleeful noise.
2.Guzheng Quartet "By Butterfly Spring"Arrangement:Zhenbang Lei Every year people from every ethnic group come together at the foot of the scenic green mountains for a March Festival, and decked out in their finest outfits they gather by the famous Butterfly Spring to run the traditional horse races, play games and trade their local products.Young men and women mingle and make friends. 3.Hulusi (Gourd Flute) Ensemble"Nocturne of the Green Island"Arrangement: Lanping Zhou With Taiwan's "green and rolling" scenery as its background, this is a musical portrait of love, in a gentle and beautiful tune.This melody was selected as No. 3 on the "20th Century 100 Famous Songs" list. 4.Drum Ensemble Performance"Flying Dragon and Leaping Tiger"Arrangement:Minxiong Li Like a dragon soaring through the sky, like a tiger leaping through the air, the music describes the strength of the beasts’ movements, and their vigorous forward charging. 5.Flute Ensemble"Spurring the Horses to Carry the Grain"Arrangement:WEI Xianzhong Using popular musical language and enthusiastic song to describe peasants happily bringing their bumper crops to the bustling harvest, the thumping of the horses' hooves, and the singing of the carriage wheels.The merry peasant raises the crop to drive his horse and spread the joy of the plentiful harvest over the country path.This is a well-known flute solo piece. 12.Mother and Daughter Drum Duet "The Ox Battles the Tiger"Arrangement:Wang Guojie This is a drum duo with a striking name and a strong character, in which yin and yang are exposed in the technique.The musical vocabulary is largely drawn from large-scale chegu style ceremonial drumming, and through interlocking and opposed drum patterns, through three stages of "meeting," "playing," and "doing battle," the music reveals to the audience the ox's ferocious strength and the tiger's martial valor. 1) "Beautiful Flowers, Round Moon" Composition:Huang Yijun Rearranged by:Peng Xiuwen The entirety of the music is vigorous and happy, with a gentle melodic theme, employing deep colors to express dance rhythms.The piece realistically describes the pleasures of enjoying flowers under the moon, and the accompanying soft song and courtly dance.
2) "A Chinese Folk Tune" Composition:Feng Xiaoquan Arrangement:Fu Peihua This is a much-performed, timeless folksong, made famous across the Chinese nation after its revival as part of the 1995 Chinese New Year television broadcast.The words to the song are evocative and poetic, the melody loping and relaxed; familiar and calm, painting a picture in sound, it is a pure expression of the heart.
3) "The Beautiful Phoenix-Tail Bamboo"Arrangement:Yang Chunlin The music features the sound of the hulusi (gourd flute) as its lead, transporting the listener with its fascinating sound to the wondrous Xishuangbanna region of Yunnan Province.The sound is beautiful and moving, painting a portrait of the land and people of Guangxi and Yunnan. 4) "Wild Dance of the Golden Snake"Arrangement:Ni Er A piece typically performed on Chinese holidays and festival days, the music recreates the thrill of popular dragon-style dances and the clatter of gongs and drums in a vivid portrait of national character and life.The music is accompanied by exciting drums and gongs, giving it a thrilling, vivacious quality.
5) "Jingle Bells" Arrangement: Piermont A happy, rolling American song, the music describes a band of children rollicking in the snow in a horse-drawn sleigh, the sound of their laughter mingling with the crisp tones of the horse's bell.The music portrays the children's joyful character and lust for life.
