Jian Ding was a former flute and Dizi player in Xinjiang Military District Performing Arts Troupe of China. He was also a conductor of the military band. He started learning Chinese flute from renowned Dizi master Datong Li in China at the age of 8 and has successfully held his first solo recital in Xinjiang. He also studied conducting with one of the top ten military band conductors in the world Mr. Yubao Liu, one of the most renowned conductors in China today Mr. Bingxu Hu, and professor of Central of Conservatory of Music Mr. Fujian Wang. Ding also established the first soldiers' military band in Xinjiang.
He organized and conducted the Xinjiang Choir which was awarded the top ten in the first National Public Music Competition in China, in which Ding also received the Individual Organization Award. He has published numerous articles and books such as the Elementary Introduction of Flute and Ding Jian Flute Music Selection. He is also a Guinness record holder for his accomplishments on performing the Chinese flute. In the U.S., Mr. Ding teaches Dizi (bamboo flute), Xiao (vertical flut.e), Bawu (copper-reed flute), Hulusi (gourd pipe), and Xun (Chinese ocarina). He has nurtured a significant number of students. One student completed a successful solo recital of nine different wind instruments in the Bay Area. His accomplishment in music has received favorable recognition from the community. He has received college acceptance to both Harvard and Stanford universities. Mr. Ding was conductor of Firebird Chinese Orchestra, conductor and musical director of California Chinese Youth Orchestra, and conductor and musical director of California Youth Chinese Symphony.

GUANREN GU Composer & Conductor
Gu is a nationally acclaimed first class composer for Chinese instruments. He was the Chairman and Artistic Director of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and Vice President of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society. He is now the Honarary President of China Nationalities Orchestra Society, Committee of the Chinese Musicians Association and the deputy director of its traditional instrument department. Gu's composition successfully embraces both traditional and contemporary styles. His work includes pipa concerto, zhongruan concerto, erhu concerto, and orchestra.
Aaron Garg (張亞倫) is 18 years old and will be attending Stanford University in the fall. He began learning dizi over 5 years ago from Mr. Jian Ding, an internationally renowned musician. In September of 2008, Aaron held a successful debut solo concert, "A Musical Journey Through East and West,"playing 12 songs from memory on 9 different Chinese and Western wind instruments. Later, in December 2008, he performed at the San Francisco Library to celebrate the "30th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-US Diplomatic Relations,"and on January 30, 2009, Aaron was interviewed by the Chinese TV show, KTSF "Talk Tonight". Aaron has been actively involved playing the flute and piccolo in his school band for the past 7 years, participating in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Orchestra, and the Marching Band. In addition to being a musician, Aaron is a competitive chess player and mathematician as well as a published poet.
